Georgia O'Keeffe, the "Mother of American Modernism," was a woman of stark contrasts and dry wit. She famously cruised the desert in a Model A Ford, which she'd converted into a mobile studio to capture the New Mexico landscape that she adored. While she's renowned for her large-scale flower paintings, she staunchly rejected the sexual interpretations of her work. It's rumored she once quipped that she only painted flowers because they were cheaper than models and didn’t move. Another whisper suggests that despite her fearless reputation, she was "absolutely terrified every moment of her life" but never let it stop her from doing what she wanted.
